Mahe Zehra Husain Bio
Mahe Zehra Husain is a trained mathematician and data scientist with a passion for creativity. She was home-schooled after she turned 10 and was able to achieve her educational goals ahead of the norm. Her years of homeschooling taught her how to learn and study on her own, something that has helped her in her career and creative pursuits. Her mother, a humanitarian and an educationist and her father, who was a passionate, creative thinker helped create engaging content and syllabi to draw children’s interest toward STEM subjects. Both parents taught Husain to question, learn and be confident. Who she says are solely responsible for harnessing her inner talent. Her mother encouraged her to dream big and to never give up on her ideas.
Her father gave her the confidence to achieve the unachievable and aim for the impossible. He taught her to create lamps, bookshelves, sofas, cabinets through different DIY projects and from things lying at home. He also taught her electrical work, mechanical work, carpentry and even construction work. He was the man behind encouraging her to aim high and be creative.
Husain excelled throughout her school years. At nineteen she started her Masters in Pure Mathematics and topped her third semester at the Department of Mathematics, University of the Punjab in Pakistan. Husain’s entrepreneurial endeavours started at an early age and she started selling beaded jewellery to friends and family alongside studying Mathematics and Physics. She left for the University of Texas, Austin to pursue her Masters degree in Operations Research from 2008 to 2010 and scored a 4.0 GPA in three out of four semesters. While pursuing her graduate studies she started writing e-books and playing around with various online publishing platforms.
After returning from the US she joined FiveRivers Technologies as Manager Operations and Products and started FRT’s first mobile applications team. Since then there has been no looking back.
In 2011 under Husain’s leadership, FRT started creating world number one apps for BlackBerry. She also worked on different e-learning projects and apps and created a documentary - Redefining Identity (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhynv21jSkI&t=501s) highlighting the work of young technologists in Pakistan.
Under Husain, FRT has grown three fold in both workforce and revenue. Husain rose to the rank of CEO in 2017. She is responsible for creating a new department focusing on cutting edge technologies like data science, machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), AR, VR and AI.
During her work with Ballogy, an Austin, TX based AI startup, she was deeply involved with the company’s data science and analytics road map & eventually was named their Chief Data Scientist. She was also selected as a Managing Editor for Cognitive Times, a US based AI magazine.
From selling handmade jewelry to friends, developing new creative products showcased at the Maker Faire in NYC, to writing e-books for Amazon Kindle to running an e-commerce business and a software house to dabbling in digital marketing, Husain has truly indulged her love for trying new things and new ideas. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1hjJDAdAi2C2J2iFRKG8i3vP0vHy9OCKR?usp=sharing
